What You're Doing Tonight: Friday the 13th Edition

Retail therapy, a Valentine's bash with a beat and another one with a bite

SHOPPORTUNISTIC: Dying to see "Confessions of a Shopaholic" but want to fit in some Friday night shopping first? "Shops, Sips & Silver Screens" is the perfect solution. Head to the W Chicago - Lakeshore, where local boutiques and designers (including Orlando Espinoza, Michelle Tan, 1154 Lill Studio and Veruca Salt) will display merch for sale. Afterward, head over to the AMC River East for a showing of the frothy Isla Fisher film. 5:30-7:30PM for the party with the movie to follow, $25.

HOT CHILD IN THE CITY: Get a jump on Valentine's Day at "Love is in the House," a dance party hosted by performance group HotHouse. DJs Seth Hitsky and Vanessa Beck will spin classic house, R & B and soul, with a little techno thrown in for good measure. The first 50 guests will get a free glass of champagne and a candle from Raw Candles Chicago. At the HotLoft, above Fizz Bar & Grill in Lakeview, 9PM, $5.

MY BLOODY VALENTINE: Like a bit of the freakshow in your Friday? Check out Cobra Lounge's "St. Valentine's Day Massacre Weekend," kicking off tonight with metal band Skank, a burlesque show from Miss Maya Sinstress and Kendra James and an appearance by The Reverend B. Dangerous, whose claim to fame is driving nails into his body. 9PM, no cover.
