What You're Doing Today: End of January Edition

Kiss January goodbye at a chili cook-off, a roller derby or a play about dreams

FEELING CHILI: Got a chili recipe that can't be beat? BYOP (that's bring your own pot) to Lizard's Liquid Lounge in Avondale today for the bar's Chili Cook-Off. If you're just a ravenous chili aficionado, that works, too. An Irish jam session will follow the food-focused festivities. 2PM, $5.

BRAWLIN' BABES: The Windy City Rollers (Chicago's roller derby queens) open their season with a double-header at the UIC Pavilion tonight. Watch the Manic Attackers take on the Double Crossers and The Fury go up against the Hell's Belles. 6PM, $20.

LAST CHANCE: Experience "The Rotogravure," a multimedia production featuring film productions, live stage performers, music and dance interwoven into a "cine-play." The plot involves a young woman whose rich fantasy life is in direct conflict with her reality, that is until another day-dreamer asks her to an intriguing dinner party. At the Athenaeum Theatre in Lakeview, 7:30PM, $20.
