St. Pat's Day comes early, learn how to make sushi and jam on some reggae

WE LOVE A PARADE: Get a jump on St. Patrick's Day at the Northwest Side Irish Parade (yes, our fair city has three St. Pat's parades). The procession will include performances by bagpipe and drumming troupe the Emerald Society, the Mullane Irish Dancers, The Gavin School of Irish Dance, the Jesse White Tumblers and the St. Patrick's High School jazz band. Kicks off at the Onahan Elementary School at 6634 W. Raven St. at 11AM, free.

ROLL WITH IT: Learn how to make rolls and nigiri during the "Totally Hands-On Sushi Class" at The Chopping Block in the Merchandise Mart this morning. You'll prepare sushi rice, learn how to select the freshest fish and create California and spicy tuna rolls, along with nigiri. 11AM, $85, reservations required at 312-644-6360.

JAMAICA, MON: Feel the good vibrations at Sonotheque during "Uprising," resident DJ Papa G's weekly reggae party. Guest DJs Zebo, Major Taylor and DJ Blackish will spin reggae, dub and dancehall classics. Drink specials include $3 PBRs and $5 Red Stripes with a shot of Sailor Jerry rum. 10PM-2AM, no cover.
