This Sale Speaks Volumes

Check out the Little City Used Book Sale for more than 200,000 tomes

The 51st annual Little City Used Book Sale, which benefits the Little City Foundation, an organization that helps children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, will take place from Friday, June 5 through Sunday, June 14. This massive tent sale will be set up in the parking lot of Westfield Old Orchard Shopping Center in near north suburban Skokie throughout its run.

The event, which is the largest open-air book sale in Illinois, attracts more than 50,000 shoppers every year, many of whom scour the sale in conjunction with the simultaneous Printers Row Lit Fest (previously known as the Printers Row Book Fair). (It's a good time to be a book worm in Chicagoland.) Not only will more than 200,000 books in 70 subject categories be on hand, but comic books, DVDs, CDs and vinyl records will also be on offer.

An array of activities will take place during the Little City Used Book Sale, including Senior Citizens' Day on Wednesday, June 10, Children's Day on Thursday, June 11, and Bargain Weekend on Saturday, June 13 and Sunday, June 14, when many books will be sold for $1 or less. Admission to the Little City Used Book Sale is free, except on opening day, Friday, June 5, when it will cost you $10 for first dibs.
