Puppy Love for “Bachelorette” Stars

Ed and Jillian talk of plans to buy a puppy

The relationship between Ed Swiderski and Jillian Harris is more than just puppy love, and to prove it the couple is buying – well, a puppy.

"Ed and I plan on adopting a rescue as soon as we settle into a place," The Bachelorette star told PEOPLE Pets.

Harris, who plans to move to Chicago to be with Swiderski, said that dogs have been a part of her life since she was five years old when her first pooch, Sweets, was placed under the Christmas tree as Harris’ holiday gift.

“We had her for 12 years and she was truly my BFF. We did everything together!" Harris said of Sweets.

But the “forever” in BFF was cut short when a car hit Sweets during a thunderstorm in 1993. Soon after the Harris family adopted a 3-year-old rescue dog, Risky, whose ashes Harris said she keeps in a tin in her living room.

The next canine in her life may also be a rescue dog since Harris is looking for pet potentials at petswithdisabilities.org.

We’ve all heard that dogs are man’s best friend, but Harris’ love of them is defying the norm. With the commitment of a puppy in the works, let’s just hope Ed’s in for the long haul.
