The International Vintage Poster Fair returns to Chicago this weekend

More than 10,000 examples of original poster art will be on display at the Chicago Cultural Center this weekend for the return of the International Vintage Poster Fair. And, lest you think of the Van Gogh repros from your college years, these babies are 100 percent authentic.

More than 25 national and international dealers, including local exhibitors Chicago Center for the Print and Poster Plus, along with an array of companies from New York, California and across Europe, will show works by such noted artists as Cheret, Toulouse-Lautrec and Cappiello, who were masters of this appealing, accessible genre. A special exhibit this year, "From Biplane to Jet Plane," will highlight aviation and airline advertising posters. And, never fear, collectors: All items displayed at the International Vintage Poster Fair have been vetted by the International Vintage Poster Dealer Association.

The fair will kick off on Friday, March 27 with a benefit preview party for the Evening Associates of the Art Institute. The soiree will take place at the Cultural Center from 5-9PM; tickets are $45. The show will be held from 10AM-7PM on Saturday, March 28, and from 11AM-6PM on Sunday, March 29. Tickets to the fair are $15 each and are good for entry all weekend.
