The come-ons for the Giant Show - at the convention center in Rosemont this weekend - are hard to resist. I mean, slot cars and model trains!

And a bunch of manufacturers too, from the Academy of Model Aeronautics to Tiny Brite Lights.

More than 700 hundred booths! The Largest Hobby Show ever!

At least, that's what they claim.

Special events include:

- The Fall Chibotica Competition. "Featuring Mini- Sumo Robot Wrestling, Basic Line Following (Standard, Racing and Expert levels), Advanced Line Following, Line Maze Solving and more!"

- Mecha Mayhem 2008. "An extravaganza of robot builders, enthusiasts and mainstream audiences enjoying the exciting pastime of competitive robotics. Top robotics competitors from around the world will face off for glory, prizes and bragging rights as champions in weight classes ranging from 150 grams to 340 pounds!"

- The World Micro Heli Cup. "Spectators can win incredible prizes, including advanced electric helicopter setups, RTF indoor helis, heli parts, shirts, hats and much more."
