Our Most Fashionable Moments of '08

Let's not kid ourselves. Chicago isn't exactly the fashion capital of the world -- but we did have a couple notable moments in 2008.

As we get used to writing 2009, the Chicago Tribune put together a list of top fashion moments, so we can reflect on our stylish selves.

At the top of that list is, of course, fashion designer Maria Pinto. Obamania reminded the country that the Midwest is home to talents like Pinto. Being MIchelle Obama's favorite designer led to a wave of popularity for her, and she opened her first boutique right here in Chicago.

Also, let's not forget that our city’s little ol' Fashion Week did draw a few celebrities. It's not every day that Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz come to town. And even the Europeans noticed us in '08. Spanish retailer Zara opened a location at Old Orchard mall.
