It's the semi-official start of winter in The Windy City when the ice rink at Millennium Park opens, as it did on Wednesday after being delayed by unseasonably warm weather last week.
This year's rink offers a special new feature.
The city is not hiding its eagerness to get the 2016 Olympic Games, so embedded in the ice is the emblem for the Chicago 2016 Olympics bid.
The opening even brought out former Olympian Debi Thomas, who is a part of the committee that is trying to bring the Olympics to Chicago.
