Meet the DC24

Two dozen students from one of Chicago's toughest neighborhoods will punch their ticket to history on Saturday as they head to D.C. to witness the inauguration of Barack Obama.

They plan to share the story of their trip on www.sharemyinauguration.com and -- if we can talk them into it -- NBCChicago.com. [Click here if you'd like to contribute to our Inauguration Day blog]

The Frazier Prep students -- dubbed the DC24 -- were chosen to receive a grant from The McCormick Foundation to help out with the trip, thanks to their good grades, high test scores and an essay they each had to write.

Now that they've been tapped for the trip, the students are diving into civics lessons, even studying flashcards of Obama's cabinet so they can really understand what's going on around them in D.C.

Their four days in Washington will give them plenty of time to go to the Smithsonian, Arlington National Cemetery and other historic spots.
