Life is a Circus

Circus Arts Youth Group Presents Annual Winter Show

No, we're not talking about Britney's new album, "Circus," or her sideshow-esque life (not in this column, anyway). We're talking about CircEsteem, a nonprofit youth organization that teaches kids from across the city, suburbs and countries as far-flung as Sudan respect and self-esteem through the circus arts. The group's performance troupe, the Chicago Youth Circus, will present its annual Winter Show on Saturday, Dec. 13 at noon.

During this fun, upbeat show, members of the Chicago Youth Circus will perform a variety of high-energy circus acts, such as tightrope walking, gymwheel spinning, acrobatic tricks, juggling and clowning around. Former Cirque du Soleil artist and eight-time European gymwheel champion Wolfgang Bientzle will guide the budding circus performers as artistic director of the show.

This kid-friendly presentation will take place at Alternatives, a youth and family agency in Uptown. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children. This annual show is known to sell out, so get your tickets on the CircEsteem Website or by calling 312-731-4242.
