An Enraged Ex-Lover, Actually, Killed the Cat

Fit of rage costs $10k bond

This guy deserves to serve a sentence in a litter box. He should be declawed and neutered.

Kevin Colabuono of Arlington Heights allegedly hurled Riley,  his ex-girlfriend's four month-old kitty, to the floor in a fit of rage, killing the little furball.

"He got mad, picked it up, and threw it hard on the ground," Officer Doug Hajek, an Arlington Heights police spokesman, told the Chicago Sun-Times.

Colabuono was charged with one count of aggravated cruelty to an animal at a hearing this week, and bond was set at $10,000. He faces up to three years in prison if he is convicted of the Class 4 felony.

Colabuono and his girlfriend broke up a week ago, according to Arlington Heights Police Sgt. Michael Shabez . When she left the apartment, she left the kitten behind.

On August 10, little Riley urinated on the rug. Colabuono admitted to becoming so enraged, he killed the animal.

Colabuono then wrapped up the body in a plastic bag and left it in a dumpster. When he told the ex-girlfriend the kitten had died, she called police.

"You're to have no contact with any animals" until the case is resolved, Circuit Court Judge Marie Hanlon cautioned him.

We can only hope that Riley is much happier at that big scratching post in the sky.
