D.O.C. Wine Bar to Host Master Mixologist Bridget Albert

Lombard's D.O.C. Wine Bar will present a book signing, mixology demonstration and tasting with Bridget Albert, author of "Market-Fresh Mixology: Cocktails for Every Season" on Nov. 12. Taking place from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Albert will sign copies of her book while guests can sample her innovative cocktail creations.

Albert, master mixologist for Southern Wine & Spirits Illinois and director of the Academy of Spirits and Fine Service (a sort-of history degree for bartenders), combines fresh, seasonal ingredients such as fruits, vegetables and herbs with alcohol to create tasty cocktails for any time of the year. Using both new and time-tested recipes, Albert's concoctions include everything from a refreshing blueberry-lavender mojito to a comforting hot buttered rum.

Albert's fusion of culinary techniques with drink-slinging skills has won her a spot on "Iron Chef America" and top honors at the "Tale of the Cocktail" Bar Chef Competition.
