Can you believe that Marilyn Monroe -- basically the biggest sex symbol the world has ever known -- would have been 83 on June 1? (Norma Jeane Mortenson -- or Baker -- was born on June 1, 1926). Celebrate the birthday of the woman who changed Hollywood forever with an annual b-day bash fit for a star at Kit Kat Lounge & Supper Club in Lakeview from 5:30PM-2AM on Sunday, June 7.
The immortal icon will be remembered with performances by "Kit Kat Diva" Madame X, who will play the part by singing many of Monroe's famous songs starting at 7:30PM. Timeless footage of Marilyn Monroe movies and appearances will also grace Kit Kat's five large-screen TVs outfitted in gilded frames.
Themed dinner specials and featured cocktails will also honor the legend. The "Marilyn Menu" will feature such clever dishes as "All About Eve," chilled tomato gazpacho with avocado and sour cream ($6); "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes," mini pita bread "blonde" pizza with spicy alfredo sauce, mozzarella, spinach, zucchini, cherry tomatoes and red onion ($10); and "My Heart Belongs to Daddy," grilled chicken breast served with heart-shaped cheese ravioli with asparagus, basil and pine nuts in a creamy tomato-vodka sauce ($22). "Monroe Martinis" will include "The Seven Year Itch," VOX Apple Vodka, blue curaco and mango and lemon juices; and "Monkey Business," VOX Vodka, banana liqueur, pineapple juice and simple syrup. Each featured cocktail is half-priced for the evening at $5 each.
