The Race: Democratic Candidate for the 30th Legislative District

    The Competition: Dan Castella

The Buzz: Waukegan native Terry Link has served as senator since 1997. He ran for lieutenant governor in 2009. He favors increased cigarette taxes, expanded gaming in Illinois and government consolidation.

Link has introduced gaming legislation and says it is a good way to fund education initiatives.

Link voted in favor of the failed SB173, which would have created an independent board to examine local units of government. Illinois has too many units of government, Link says.

Before working in government, Link worked for Major Industrial Trucking as well as Johnson Controls.
