The Race: Republican Primary for the chance to win the Illinois Senate's open seat in the 28th District.
The Competition: Jim O’Donnell
The Buzz: As the current Mayor of Roselle, Smolinski has been in mayoral office since 1993. She is also a small business owner. According to her website, Smolinski states that she will vote to reverse the Democrats’ 67% sales tax increase. She has worked with Metra in Roselle, and believes cooperation of leaders is what will help push Illinois in the right direction. Her current focus is on pension reform, protecting local municipal revenues, and helping municipalities deal with foreclosures.
