Iman Shumpert To Appear on Michelle Obama's Rap Album

The Oak Park native and the First Lady are teaming up to help fight childhood obesity

When Iman Shumpert isn’t playing guard for the New York Knicks, the Chicago native and Oak Park-River Forest alum spends his time in the studio making rap songs and mixtapes.

Many people may not even be aware that Shumpert is a rapper – he released a mixtape last year called “The3 #Post90s” which was good, not great – but one person certainly does: Fist Lady Michelle Obama.

The FLOTUS is releasing a rap album of all things as a part of her “Let’s Move!” campaign aimed at fighting childhood obesity and is sponsored in part by the Partnership for a Healthier America and Hip Hop Public Health.

The 19-track album will feature noted entertainers such as DMC from Run-DMC, R&B songstress Ashanti, hip-hop legend Doug E. Fresh and noted drummer for Blink-182, Travis Barker.

Shumpert’s contribution to the album is in the form of a song called “Pass the Rock” which is the 11th track on the album. No word yet on when the album is set to be released.
