The Chicago Blackhawks opted to keep the band together for the upcoming season, but if they don’t get off to a strong start to the new campaign, there could be changes coming to the team’s leadership base.

According to an interview with Crain’s Chicago Business, Blackhawks Chairman Rocky Wirtz says that he would consider changing things up if the Blackhawks get off to a slow start in the 2018-19 season.

“Nothing lasts forever,” he said. “I think the team will be fine, but if things are off at the beginning of the year, that’s a different story.”

The Blackhawks missed the playoffs in 2018 for the first time in a decade, and there were plenty of calls for change at either the head coaching position or in the general manager’s office. Instead, the Blackhawks opted to keep Joel Quenneville and Stan Bowman in those positions, leaving the status quo intact as the team tries to get back into the postseason.
