Former Chicago Blackhawks winger Marian Hossa may not be a member of the team anymore, but he made sure to take a moment to thank the team’s fans in a touching video.

Hossa, who was traded to the Arizona Coyotes earlier this month, released the video through the Blackhawks’ social media channel, thanking the team’s fans for their support during his career.

“Hello Blackhawks fans. I wanted to take some time to say thank you from me and my family for all the support over the last eight years,” he said in the clip. “You welcomed me with open arms and made Chicago feel like home for eight years.”

Hossa won three Stanley Cups with the Blackhawks in eight seasons, but was forced to step aside last year after a skin ailment prevented him from playing hockey.

Hossa still has three years left on the deal he signed with the Blackhawks in 2009, but is expected to take on a role with the organization when his playing career officially ends at the end of the contract.

“Even though we are back in Slovakia, Chicago will always be a special place,” he said. “Thank you again Blackhawks fans, and I look forward to seeing you again when we’re back in the Windy City.”

Hossa won’t officially retire until his contract ends.
