Head coach Mark Helfrich of the Oregon Ducks looks on during their game against the Utah Utes at Rice-Eccles Stadium on November 19, 2016 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

In the midst of a six-game losing streak, the University of Colorado has announced that head coach Mike MacIntyre will not be returning to the Buffaloes next season, and there is one potential name to replace him that may interest fans of the Chicago Bears.

According to ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg, Colorado A.D. Rick George is hoping to land a recognizable name to replace MacIntyre, and one of the names under consideration right now is that of Bears offensive coordinator Mark Helfrich.

Helfrich, who was hired by Bears head coach Matt Nagy as the team’s coordinator this season, does have previous experience at the collegiate level, serving as the head coach of Oregon from 2013 to 2016. He was also the offensive coordinator at the school under former head coach Chip Kelly, where the duo pioneered one of the most creative and impactful offenses in the NCAA.

Rittenberg’s report also mentioned Boise State head coach Bryan Harsin, West Virigina head coach Dana Holgorsen, and Syracuse head coach Dino Babers as potential options for Colorado to explore.
