Izzy Stroobandt is a digital and social media producer for NBC Chicago. She first started in the NBC Chicago newsroom as an assignment editor in early 2024 before moving to the digital team in summer 2025. Prior to joining NBC, she freelanced for several local publications including WBEZ, Block Club Chicago, The Daily Line, Harvey World Herald, and Borderless Magazine and was named a finalist of both a Peter Lisagor Award in 2021 and a Sarah Brown Boyden Award in 2022. She earned a master’s degree in journalism with a specialization in investigative and social justice reporting from Northwestern University and a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Loyola Marymount University.
