Francella Pérez was born in San José and moved with her family to Los Angeles at a young age. She proudly considers Southern California home. For more than two decades, Francella has dedicated her career to serving the community through broadcast journalism, delivering clear, accurate, and impactful weather coverage to diverse audiences.
She began her career in Los Angeles, producing and presenting weather segments for Telemundo and MundoFox. In addition to her meteorology work, she co-hosted Telemundo’s morning show Acceso Total and MundoFox’s entertainment program Viva el 22, connecting with viewers across Southern California.
In 2016, Francella and her family relocated to San Diego, where she served as Senior Meteorologist for KUSI-TV, forecasting for both morning and evening newscasts.
She has since returned to NBC and Telemundo, where she proudly serves San Diego’s English and Spanish speaking communities. Her bilingual skills and deep understanding of Southern California’s microclimates allow her to deliver weather coverage that is both precise and accessible.
Francella holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from University of California, Los Angeles and a Bachelor of Science in Geoscience and Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University. She is certified in Geoscience and Broadcast Meteorology, is a member of the National Weather Association, and previously served as an NWA Weather Ambassador.
Outside the newsroom, Francella is passionate about health, fitness, and the outdoors. A former aerobics instructor for more than a decade, she enjoys running, strength training, Zumba, and salsa dancing. She also takes full advantage of North County’s beaches and scenic hiking trails.
A seasoned meteorologist with a deep passion for weather and its impact on the community, Francella lives in Carlsbad with her husband and two children.
