Man Struck, Killed by Metra Train

A man died overnight when he was struck by an outbound Metra train in south suburban Tinley Park.

Officials say the accident happened at the Rock Island Line's Tinley Park station, in the 6700 block of South Street, shortly after midnight. He was struck by train #231, scheduled to arrive in Joliet at 12:40 a.m.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office says the victim was in his 30s. His identity is not being released.

An autopsy is scheduled for later Monday morning.
