"It is customary for bid city delegations to wear official apparel to signify teamwork and cohesion," a press release from Chicago 2016 states.
The ladies will be wearing the fashions of Maria Pinto, who graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Clients of her first boutique in Chicago's West Loop include First Lady Michelle Obama and Oprah Winfrey.
The gentleman will be dressed by Hart Schaffner Marx. The suits have been made in Chicago since 1872 and are now sold in leading department and specialty stores. President Barack Obama wore a Hart Schaffner Marx suit on Inauguration Day earlier this year.
Another Chicago-based designer, Lee Allison, will supply neckties, dress shirts and accessories from his own line. The silk ties are cut and sewn by hand. Allison is also the co-chair of Mayor Richard Daley's Fashion Council.
The International Olympic Committee will announce the host city for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games on Oct. 2.
