They say fashion always comes back around, but we'll find out if the popular looks of the 1800s have any resonance today when the Lyric Opera of Chicago and AKIRA team up Thursday for "Misterioso."
The fashion showcase will be held at the Civic Opera House (20 N. Wacker Drive), and benefits the organization's young professional chapter.
The event kicks off at 6 p.m. with a Belvedere vodka cocktail and sushi reception, and includes a rare viewing at fashion's past when the Lyric opens its vault of historic costumes.
At 7 p.m., AKIRA will showcase some if its most outrageous designs from labels such as Ben Sherman and J. Lindeberg on the runway, hosted by the Lyric's costume director Maureen Reilly.
Tickets are $25 for general admission and $50 for VIP tickets which include priority seating for the fashion show.
