These days, you can place a wager on just about anything, including the odds that Derrick Rose will win MVP this season. According to online gambling website Bovada, D. Rose has 50/1 odds to win the NBA’s highest individual award.
But unless you’ve been living under a rock with no access to the Internet, you’d know that Rose is expected to miss most, if not all of the 2012-13 season recovering from his knee injury.
How his odds aren’t significantly higher is certainly a mystery, and the fact that there are even odds on his behalf at all is strange.
For some added perspective, another member of the Chicago Bulls made the MVP list well. The site posted Luol Deng’s odds to win MVP at 150/1. Obviously, no one expects Deng to even be in the conversation, but unlike Derrick, Lu is expected to play the entire season.
Bovada also placed the odds that Marquis Teague would win Rookie of the Year at 25/1.
