Dems Don't Endorse Stroger

The Cook County Democratic leaders who paved the way for Todd Stroger to become county president three years ago refused to endorse his bid for re-election next year.

The refusal leaves Stroger, who's been beleaguered by accusations of patronage and a controversial tax hike, up the creek for the Feb. 2nd primary.

A recent Trib poll said that Stroger was floundering with only a ten percent approval rating.

In the upcoming primary, Stroger faces challenges from 4th ward Alderman Toni Preckwinkle, U.S. Rep. Danny Davis, Metropolitan Water Reclamation District President Terrence O'Brien and Circuit Clerk Dorothy Brown, says the Trib.

County Democratic leaders did endorse Gov. Quinn, refusing to answer challenger Dan Hynes' call to stay impartial.
