China Aims to Create $1.4T Network of Trade Routes

The state-run Global Times newspaper said the Belt and Road can "solve global woes"

Chinese President Xi Jinping will host officials from countries around the world, including the U.S., at the Belt and Road Forum Sunday, focusing on expanding China's trade and boosting its economy.

As NBC News reported, Xi is looking to create a $1.4 trillion network of modern trading routes. The plan includes new roads, high-speed rail, power plants, pipelines, ports, airports and telecommunication links.

The state-run Global Times newspaper said the Belt and Road can "solve global woes."

Russian President Vladimir Putin, as well as the leaders of Turkey, Italy and Pakistan, are among the expected guests. A special assistant to President Donald Trump is expected to represent the U.S.
