A dog in the backseat of a parked pickup truck in Wyoming accidentally shot a rifle on the floor of the truck, injuring a man standing outside, authorities told NBC News Friday. The dog accidentally stepped on a .300 Winchester Magnum with its safety off after the victim, 46-year-old Richard Fipps, had told the dog to move from the front seat of the truck to the back, the Johnson County Sheriff said. Fipps was taken to a hospital with a non-life-threatening injury to his lower left arm.
