Woman Killed, Her Daughter Shot in Argument With Boyfriend: Cops

Police did not release a description of the boyfriend as of 5:30 a.m.

A 46-year-old woman was killed and her daughter was injured in a shooting that stemmed from a fight with the younger woman's boyfriend, police said.

Shots were fired inside Theresa Spearman's home, on the 5400 block of South Laflin Street, shortly after midnight Friday, authorities said.

Spearman's 25-year-old daughter reportedly was arguing with her boyfriend when the mother intervened. The boyfriend, a man in his 30s, shot Spearman several times in the stomach before shooting his girlfriend in the chest and running away, police said.

Both women were taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County where the mother was pronounced dead the younger woman was listed in critical condition. 

Police did not release a description of the boyfriend as of 5:30 a.m.
