Charges Filed in Beating of Bassist

A man has been charged in the severe beating of the bassist of the Chicago-based band Madina Lake.

Chicago police on Friday evening charged Justin Pivec, 33, with aggravated battery causing great bodily harm.

Pivec attacked Matthew Leone unconscious when Leone attempted to stop Pivec from beating another woman earlier this week, police said.

Pivec, of the 1400 block of West Ohio, was charged Tuesday with the attack on the woman.

Leone's brother, Nathan, wrote on the band's website that doctors had to remove a third of his brother's skull following the attack.
