Blue Island Man Faces Child Porn, Weapons Charges

Kirk Watson ordered held on $250,000 bond

A south suburban man was charged this week with allegedly having child pornography and weapons at his Blue Island home.

Kirk Watson, 56, of the 2600 block of Grove Street in Blue Island, was charged with felony child pornography and two counts of felony aggravated unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, according to a release from the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office.

Judge James Rhodes ordered Watson held on $250,000 bond Friday in Markham.

Blue Island police arrested Watson Thursday after an investigation into people searching for and downloading suspected child pornography, according to the state’s attorney’s office. Officers executed a search warrant at his home and recovered four desktop computers, a laptop computer and several DVDs.

Analysis found numerous files depicting child pornography on the laptop computer, the state’s attorney’s office said. The images included children under the age of 13 including in sexual conduct and penetration.

Watson has a prior conviction for aggravated criminal sexual assault, the state’s attorney’s office said.
