Woman, 25, Killed by FedEx Truck on Interstate

Illinois State Police sergeant said woman ran out into the road

A woman was fatally struck by a FedEx tractor-trailer on a Chicago-area Interstate late Wednesday night.

It was about 11:35 p.m. when a woman ran out onto Interstate 90/94 -- the Kennedy Expressway -- at Addison Street and was struck by a FedEx truck, according to Illinois State Police Sgt. Henry Spight.

Spight said authorities did not know why she ran out into the road.

The woman, a 25-year-old, was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:03 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office. Her name was not publicly released as of 5:30 a.m. Thursday.

Though some northbound lanes were closed early Thursday, an ISP spokesman said all lanes had reopened as of 4:15 a.m.
