SUV Crashes Into Restaurant, Drives Off

Nobody in custody early Saturday, police said

Police on Saturday were searching for the driver of an SUV who sped off after crashing into two people and a south side restaurant.

The victims were standing outside the store, in the 1900 block of East 95th Street, at about 1:30 a.m. when an SUV drove into them and knocked them into the front window of the restaurant, police spokesman Hector Alfaro said.

The driver of the SUV then drove away, Alfaro said.

The RJ Fish & Chicken restaurant was heavily damaged. The front glass window and door were smashed through, and bricks from the corner and side wall of the structure were scattered across the front sidewalk.

The males hurt were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in serious condition, Alfaro said. Their ages were not immediately available.

Nobody is in custody as Area South detectives investigate.
