Harvey Club Shooting: Police Say 1 Killed, 3 Wounded

The shooting began inside a club called Boogie Nights, located in the 14700 block of South Wood Street, according to Harvey police

Authorities say four people were shot, one fatally, at a nightclub in suburban Harvey early Wednesday.

At around 2:10 a.m., the shooting began inside a club called Boogie Nights, located in the 14700 block of South Wood Street, according to Harvey Police Chief Greg Thomas.

Three people were shot inside the club, Thomas said in a statement, before the shooting escalated to the outside where a fourth person was shot and killed. That victim was pronounced dead on the scene, officials said. The Cook County medical examiner's office could not immediately confirm the fatality.

The victim fatally shot was a 25-year-old man, according to Thomas, who said he was the son of a Harvey police officer. Authorities did not release his identity early Wednesday but planned to give an update later in the morning.

The three people shot inside, two of which were security guards, were taken to MetroSouth Medical Center and Ingalls Memorial Hospital, officials said. Further details, including their conditions, were not immediately available.

It was not clear if any suspects in the shooting were taken into custody.

Multiple agencies, including the Harvey Police Department, the Dixmoor Police Department, the Phoenix Police Department and the Posen Fire Department, responded to the shooting. The South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force was also assisting in the effort, police said.

Officers were on the scene for several hours and the investigation remained ongoing.
