Aurora Woman Presumed Missing Off Key West Coast

An Aurora woman has gone missing off the coast of Key West, Florida and her family is asking for help to find her.

Robin Ford, 50, has been missing since the end of August.

“She loved the water,” her sister Tamara Sanchez said.

The water is what brought Ford to Key West last January. Family says the mother of four was living on a sailboat with her friend.

“She was having a great time, loved being down there,” Sanchez said.

Stacey Ford, also Robin’s sister, said communication ceased a little more than a week before Labor Day.

“I kept telling family, I’m worried about Robin, this is odd,” Stacey said.

Robin missed a court date on Aug. 30 and then a flight to Charlotte the next day.

“Something happened to her,” Stacey said.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s office said it believes Robin was on Wisteria Island, a popular camping spot, the early morning hours of Aug. 30 but shared no other details.

“Did she ever make it back to Key West,” Stacey asked. “I don’t think so. If she did, it’s gonna be on camera.”

Sanchez says she believes Ford could be being held against her will.

“My gut feeling is that Robin’s alive and not able to communicate,” she said. “I feel somebody knows.”

Stacey doesn’t share the same optimism.

“I don't think we're ever going to find her,” she said. “Maybe, hopefully we find out what happened to her.”
