Arlington Heights Police Search for Brazen Smash-and-Grab Burglars

Police are investigating a brazen smash-and-grab at a Subway restaurant in suburban Arlington Heights, where the burglars used a pick-up truck to break into the building - and it was all caught on camera.

The incident occurred on November 3 at approximately 3:00 a.m. at the Subway on Euclid Avenue near Route 53, according to a release from the Arlington Heights Police Department. Two offenders wearing masks drove a pick-up truck through the front window of the restaurant, then stole several items, including an undisclosed amount of cash.

"The vehicle was then later recovered in Hanover Park and then it was determined that the vehicle was stolen out of Mount Prospect," said Commander Nathan Hayes.

No injuries were reported in the incident, and police said there were no witnesses. But they're counting on the shocking surveillance video to help them track down the suspects.

"These offenders were masked, but in other instances, it can provide that, we can get vehicle information, be it license plate information, things of that sort," Hayes added. "So we find that surveillance video is very beneficial to our investigations."

The business owner is cooperating fully, according to police, and finding out who these masked offenders are is top priority.

Police are asking for the public's assistance in identifying the burglars.
