A Chicago woman has been charged with aggravated arson for allegedly setting a fire after discovering her husband had smoked their entire stash of marijuana.
Linda Lopez is accused of setting a fire on Sunday in a planter outside a suburban Riverside apartment building. She also set another fire inside a second-floor apartment. According to Riverside fire officials, the indoor fire was quickly extinguished.
At a bond hearing Tuesday, Judge Ann Finley Collins set bond for Lopez at $20,000.
Authorities say Lopez and her husband had been drinking and consuming illegal drugs before the woman fell asleep. They say when she awoke, her marijuana was gone. After a violent argument, Lopez allegedly sprinkled perfume on towels and set them afire. It wasn't immediately known if Lopez has obtained legal representation.
