According to witness and 900 N. Michigan Ave. publicist Ryan Beshel, the driver was headed east on Delaware Place when his brakes failed.

A tractor-trailer crashed into a house in Calumet City early Thursday. Police say the driver was killed in the accident, but his daughter, who was riding with him in the cab, survived. Kim Vatis reports.

"We are very thankful no one was hurt and the driver was able to think quickly," said Beshel.

Beshel said they are still analyzing the extent of damages to the store, but that the storefront window was shattered and some structural damage did occur, the total costs will likely be "more than MaxMara's deductible."
