Three Dead in Murder-Suicide

Gunman was woman's estranged husband, cops say

A gunman killed his estranged wife and her boyfriend before turning the gun on himself last night in a gritty murder-suicide on the city’s Southwest Side, police said.

The 38-year-old gunman arrived at the home on the 4200 block of West 55th Street around 10:15 p.m. and demanded young bystanders leave.

Before training his gun on his 29-year-old wife and her 33-year-old husband, he ordered five children --- three belonging to the woman and two to the boyfriend – to leave the home, police said.

He then shot both the woman and boyfriend in the head before training the gun on himself. The gunman fired once into his chest and once into his head.

All three bodies were found in the basement of the 1 1/2 story home.

Names have not been released and police forensics experts are investigating.
