A 31-year-old taxi driver from south suburban Lansing was found shot to death early Saturday in his taxi in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.
About 2:45 a.m. police responded to a call of shots fired in the 1200 block of West 69th Street, police News Affairs Officer Robert Perez said. When officers arrived on the scene they found the victim in his taxi, with a through-and-through gunshot wound to the upper body, Perez said.
The victim, identified as Adegboye Oguntade, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 3:43 a.m.
Oguntade was an on-duty taxi driver from Lansing, a source said. The medical examiner’s office was not immediately available to provide his street address Saturday afternoon.
No one was in custody as of Saturday afternoon.
Area South Detectives are investigating.
