North Side Apartment Fire Sends Three to Hospital: Officials

Sheridan was closed from Morse Avenue to Greenleaf Street, police said

Three people were taken to the hospital after a fire on the city's North Side, fire officials confirmed Thursday afternoon.

Sky 5 was over the scene at about 4:30 p.m. showing firefighters on the roof of a building in the 6900 block of North Sheridan Road.

Two people, one in critical and the other serious condition, were taken to St. Francis Hospital and another in serious condition was taken to Swedish Covenant, fire officials said. No firefighters were injured.

The fire was confined to an apartment on the fourth floor.

Red tape was seen surrounding the building.

Sheridan was closed from Morse Avenue to Greenleaf Street, police said. Westbound Lunt Avenue was also blocked due to fire equipment.

Smoke was coming out of a five-story apartment building.

At least five ambulances responded to the fire, officials said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
