St. Charles East Reopens After H1N1 Scare

AP

Sick Day: St. Charles East High School was forced to close for the week because 900-plus students called in with the swine flu. Kids say the darndest things.

St. Charles East high school is back in action.

Last week the school was forced to close for half a week when 972 students called in sick.

It’s unclear if any of them had the swine flu or were just playing hooky, but the Kane County Health Department says the symptoms the students complained of are consistent with the H1N1 virus.

The school opened back up to students on Monday. Only 136 students called in that day.

Teachers and staff were working the whole time the school was closed to students.
