Red Line L trains were temporarily rerouted Saturday evening on the elevated tracks due to “fire department activity,” according to a statement from the Chicago Transit Authority.
CTA spokeswoman Lambrini Lukidis said that someone reported the smell of smoke coming from the Clark and Division stop a little after 6 p.m. and the Chicago Fire Department was contacted.
“They believe it may have been burning paper,” Lukidis said.
The incident caused the CTA to reroute Red Line trains to the elevated tracks between the Fullerton and Cermak-Chinatown stations, the statement said.
Lukidis said that trains were running normally as of 6:35 p.m.
