Police Seek Suspects in Southwest Side Robberies

Police are searching for serial robbers in the Chicago Lawn and Gage Park neighborhoods after numerous robberies occurred in March and April, police said.

An alert from the Chicago Lawn police district suspects the same man is responsible for robbing at least four businesses in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood. The robberies began at the end of March with the latest taking place last Tuesday, according to police.

The alert warns the small retail stores that the man displays a handgun, demands money from the register and the store safe and flees.

The offender is described as a black male, 30-32 years of age, 6-foot-1 to 6-foot-2 and 160 to 170 pounds.

Another community alert gives notice to citizens in the Gage Park neighborhood of an increase in robbery-related incidents.

In the incidents, the alert said the victims are approached by offenders who display a black handgun and take property.

These incidents took play around 2 a.m. March 29 in the 5400 block of S. Kedzie Avenue and around 10:32 a.m. on April 2 in the 4700 block of S. Kedzie Avenue.

The offender descriptions vary, but are generally described as two or three white or Hispanic males, 18-30 years of age, 5-foot-7 to 5-foot 10, 150 to 180 pounds.
