The Warrenville Police Department is investigating a home invasion that took place earlier this week, where a local woman was sexually assaulted.

Police said the incident took place around 3 a.m. Tuesday in the 500 block of Country Ridge Drive when an offender entered an unlocked patio door where a woman was home alone and asleep.

The man entered the home and sexually assaulted the woman before leaving, police said.

A neighbor reported hearing screams and called the police, officials said.

The woman was treated at an area hospital and released.

Police said they have not received reports of similar incidents occurring, but continue to search for the suspect.

“All residents are encouraged to be diligent in securing their homes and vehicles,” Deputy Chief Schar said in a statement Friday.

Anyone with information regarding the invasion is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Jacobson at (630) 393-2131.
