Playboy Magazine Unveils Top Party Schools List

When it comes to party schools in the Midwest, Illinois can't hold a candle to Wisconsin -- at least, according to Playboy magazine.

Playboy on Monday released its list of the Top 10 Party Schools in the country. The University of Pennsylvania tops the list, followed by the University of Wisconsin in second place.

Missing from the list was Illinois, despite the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign's repeated mentions in the Princeton Review's annual top party schools list. U of I ranked fifth this year and third the previous year.

"This year's list was determined by Playboy's editors who considered a variety of factors in their selection process, including access to nightlife and musical events, and creativity when planning social gatherings," the magazine noted in a statement. "Information from the National Center for Education Statistics, the NCAA and the US Economic Census was also considered."

Playboy's full rankings appear in the magazine's October 2014 college issue on Sept. 19. It marks the ninth party school rankings by the magazine.

Last year, top honors went to West Virginia University.
