Parts of Board of Trade Building For Sale

Part of the Chicago Board of Trade building is for sale.

CME Group announced Monday it would offer a portion of the landmark building in downtown Chicago for partial sale or leaseback. CME Group owns the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and the Chicago Board of Trade.

The property has three buildings. CME Group is offering the 1.4 million-square-foot north and south buildings. CME Group will keep the east building, where financial trading and offices are housed.

The historic skyscraper with art-deco architecture was built in 1930. It was designated a historic landmark in 1978. A three-story statue of the Roman goddess of agriculture sits atop the building. A $20 million renovation was finished in 2006.

The building was used in the recent Batman films as Wayne Tower.

CME Group has hired a real estate company to market the property.
