Oprah Auctions Off More Than 500 Personal Belongings From Chicago Condo

More than 500 personal belongings from Oprah Winfrey’s Water Tower Place condo are up for auction.

All of the Oprah-blessed items were opened up to the public Thursday for preview exhibitions by Leslie Hindman Auctioneers. Bidding begins April 25.

Oprah plans to part with English, French and Continental furniture and decorative arts, paintings, prints, drawings, porcelain, crystal, silver, memorabilia, clothing and accessories such as a Chanel bag and a pair of shades.

The estimated costs of the items range from $100 for Christian Louboutin yellow patent leather pumps to upwards of $120,000 for a Richard Edward Miller painting titled “The Red Scarf.”

Not all items are just for the rich and famous, as an upholstered arm chair could go for an estimated $100 to $200.

Other lavish finds include a $12,000 bronze sculpture of an entangled woman and a pair of Regency leather library chairs for approximately $3,000 to $5,000.

Proceeds will go to The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy Foundation.

“I have long revered Ms. Winfrey as a collector,” said Leslie Hindman, founder of Leslie Hindman Auctioneers in a statement on their website. "I once met with Ms. Winfrey in 2003, and we discussed my perspectives and advice regarding collecting. It was immediately evident that she had extensive market knowledge and had made it a priority to form relationships with dealers, collectors and industry contacts to make informed decisions regarding acquisitions.”

The full collection is open for viewing daily at the Leslie Hindman Auctioneers' Chicago saleroom before they go up for grabs at 10 a.m. on April 25.
