A multi-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon forced a partial shutdown on the Dan Ryan Expressway.

Just before 4 p.m., five vehicles were involved in a crash on the southbound lanes of the Dan Ryan near 53rd, according to State Police. The crash forced lanes near the scene to shut down. By 5 p.m., southbound lanes were reopened.

Eight people, including four children, were injured in the crash, according to State Police. Four victims, including three children, were taken to St. Bernard Hospital in good condition. Three others were taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County in serious condition. One other child was also taken to Stroger in fair condition.
